Basic Life Support (BLS) and Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator Level 2 (RQF):
This adult basic life support course is designed to ensure that persons who have access to an AED are trained to use it safely and effectively. Course participants will be assessed as safe in the use of an AED in an emergency.
This course does not cover advanced life support. if this is what you require, please get in touch, or browse our other courses.

You will receive an Ofqual regulated certificate. Please note that we only offer Ofqual courses, as these give our clients the best accreditation in order to meet their legal requirements.
Who is it for?
Target audience:
This BLS course is suitable for any person who wants to be able to administer life saving first aid to adults and children. Participants might include healthcare professionals, or people working in a business.
Do you need a defibrillator?
This is a snapshot of the checklist we use as a quick risk assessment to see if you need a defibrillator in your workplace.
- Are you able to retrieve and use a defibrillator within 3 minutes?
- How close are the nearest emergency medical services, in minutes?
- How many employees do you have on-site?
- Are any of your employees CPR/AED trained?
- Are there members of the public on your premises?
- Have you completed a risk assessment in the last 12 months?
- What is the layout of your buildings?; multiple floors, restricted areas etc.
- Are there any environmental factors that may induce cardiac arrest?
- Are there any geographical factors that may delay the delivery of an AED to the patient?
Course content

- Managing an unresponsive casualty Recovery Position
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation CPR*

• Using an AED
• Combining AED use with CPR • Using an AED on a child - Procedures for when Emergency Services arrive
*CPR includes chest compressions and rescue breaths.
On completion of this training, your staff will be able to:
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure), wounded, bleeding or suffering from shock.
- Know how to put a casualty into the recovery position
- Administer CPR* to a patient suffering cardiac arrest.
Be Prepared with an AED for cardiac arrest.
Following a cardiac arrest, every minute without CPR and defibrillation reduces a casualty’s chance of survival by 10%.

the difference they can make by performing CPR and defibrillation.
The Basic Life Support Course and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator:
(RQF) qualification has been designed to provide candidates with the skills needed to administer safe, prompt and effective basic life support and use an AED safely in emergency situations. With an estimated 60,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurring every year in the UK alone, make sure you are prepared!
