First Response Emergency Care (FREC) 3 course is for those who wish to train to become part of an Ambulance Crew. This qualification is regulated and is a nationally recognized Pre-Hospital care qualification.
Target audience: Suitable for any person wishing to pursue a career in the NHS Ambulance services, Voluntary Ambulance Services, medical, and security sectors. or those working in high risk workplaces, and the emergency services ambulance service.

What course do I need?
The FREC Suite is a stage by stage process (modular) you must start at level 3 and pass each qualification and progress to the next, you may be able to APAL/APEL prior study, this would be done on a case by case basis, for example a military medic may be able to evidence some of the competencies required.
What is a FREC 3 qualification on an Ambulance?
A FREC 3 is the equivalent of a trainee Associate Ambulance Practitioner, Trainee Emergency Care Support Worker. The FREC qualification will in stages allow you to become a Autonomous Ambulance Clinician at FREC level 5, this is what was known as an Emergency Medical Technician, or more commonly known as a Ambulance Practitioner. Finally, FREC 6 is where you study to become a HCPC registered Paramedic.
