The First Aid at Work certificate is valid for Three Years from date of completion.

FAW Students will need to attend a renewal course l when nearing expiry.

This is also known as 2-day First Aid refresher or requalification.

It is strongly encouraged by the HSE employers to allow staff to complete annual refresher training every 12 months whilst their FAW certificate is in date.

Have You Considered the Need for Annual Training as Part of Your Risk Assessment?

The HSE strongly recommends workplace first aiders undertake annual refresher training every 12 months to maintain their skills. Keeping your staff’s skills up-to-date is important for staff safety and makes sure your first aiders still have confidence in their skills.

However, we recommend you book an Ofqual-regulated course – see below. Only Ofqual courses meet the legal requirements for 1st aid training.

Be prepared

Did you know that an estimated 555,000 workers in Britain sustained an injury at work in 2017/18?

The Health and Safety Regulations 1981 require all employers to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

This includes carrying out a risk assessment, appointing a suitable qualified first aider and providing appropriate first aid training.

However, having the correct first aid provision in the workplace is not just a legal requirement, it is incredibly important for the safety of all members of staff.

The QA Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (RQF) qualification is specifically designed for individuals who wish to act as a first aider in their workplace.

As a regulated qualification, employers can rest assured that they have fulfilled their legal responsibilities.

Ofqual courses guarantee quality first aid training, without having to undertake any lengthy due diligence checks.

Why Ofqual matters

Ofqual accreditedRegulated OFQUAL courses are the only ones that we recommend. HSE* Accredited, HSE Approved or HSE Recommended courses are not Ofqual regulated courses and do not meet your legal responsibilities. With Ofqual regulated 1st aid training courses, you do not have to prove the competency of your chosen trainer. OFQUAL registration guarantees the required standards, meaning you meet your legal responsibilities. *Health and Safety Executives.
